South Korea's POSCO, the world's third-largest steel maker, said yesterday it started operating a US$720-million stainless steel mill in China.

The operation of the steel mill, with an annual stainless steel smelting capacity of 600,000 tons, will make POSCO the world's third-largest stainless steel maker. The integrated steel mill will handle the entire process of stainless steel production from an electric furnace, producing 600,000 tons of hot-rolled and 400,000 tons of cold-rolled products.
