Dalian Shipbuilding ranked 5th-largest

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corp was ranked the fifth-largest shipyard in the world in terms of orders for the first time, according to the London-based market researcher Clarkson.

South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries was the world's largest shipyard as of late June, with an order backlog of 11.74 million compensated gross tons (CGTs).

Samsung Heavy Industries came in second with 8.27 million CGTs, followed by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering with 7.41 million CGTs and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co with 4.11 million CGTs.

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corp raced up the ranks to the fifth spot, with a total amount of 2.84 million CGTs.
