A Beijing business has signed an agreement to acquire a United States-based catering company for overseas expansion.

Beijing Wutong Business Service Group officially signed a framework letter of intent for acquisition in Beijing on June 9 with Los Angeles-based Golden Capital Catering Group, marking a crucial step in the overseas expansion of Wutong Reception Hall.

Xie Tingrong, business director of Beijing Wutong Reception Hall, and Nancy Sun Davis, chairperson of Los Angeles Golden Capital Catering Group, signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties, for the acquisition of Golden Capital Restaurant.

Based on mutual trust and aligned development concepts, the agreement was reached after multiple rounds of cross-border field inspections and in-depth communications between the two sides.

Prior to the deal, a team from Wutong Reception Hall made a special trip to the US to visit Golden Capital Restaurant and a number of well-known Chinese-funded catering brands in Los Angeles, conducting in-depth research on the local market environment, consumption characteristics, and operation models.

Later, Nancy Sun Davis and her entourage paid a visit to Beijing Wutong Reception Hall and Wutong Courtyard Restaurant to gain a full understanding of the partner’s operation philosophy, service system, and brand strength.

Company staffer Zhao Jun noted that, long committed to domestic business services, Wutong Reception Hall is positioned to provide one-stop comprehensive services for Chinese listed enterprises going global.

As more domestic enterprises venture overseas, they are generally faced with fragmented supporting services, including office space, social venues, catering and resource connection, Zhao said.

To address the challenge, Wutong Reception Hall will combine office accommodation, catering, and business communication functions to establish a resource-sharing platform, helping overseas Chinese enterprises cut costs, improve efficiency, and mitigate operational risks.

The to-be-acquired Golden Capital Restaurant is located at Irvine Spectrum Center in downtown Irvine, Los Angeles, a core area with a large Chinese community. Having been in operation for years, the restaurant enjoys an excellent local reputation.

Planned as a pilot project for Wutong Reception Hall’s foray into the US market, the outlet will follow a "software-first" development strategy. While preparing for the construction of large-scale overseas comprehensive service complexes, the group will first launch services based on the existing catering venue to accumulate operational experience and lay a solid market foundation for its overseas physical complexes in the future.

On follow-up operation plans, Xie stated that the team would not simply copy the operating model of domestic Wutong Courtyard, but also carry out localized upgrades tailored to the US market.

The restaurant will retain the two core strengths of Wutong Courtyard — organic ingredients and premium dishes, Xie said.

As a featured catering brand in Beijing with official organic food certification, Wutong Courtyard upholds the concept of organic catering, which is widely embraced by US consumers. Meanwhile, it will abandon the traditional Chinese catering practice of offering excessive dish varieties and adhere to the principle of "fewer, but finer selections" to polish every single dish.

The whole project is expected to take six months for full launch due to venue renovation, dish research and development, as well as the relatively slow progress of overseas construction.

Los Angeles is home to a sizable Chinese population with a diverse local catering sector, yet there is a lack of comprehensive platforms integrating business services and catering culture, Nancy Sun Davis said, adding that she holds high expectations for this cooperation. Leveraging the prime location of Irvine, she looks forward to jointly promoting premium Chinese catering culture overseas and building a reliable service bridge for Chinese nationals and enterprises operating in the US.

Both parties stated that they will push forward the project under the development philosophy of "pursuing growth through superior quality".
