Chinese singer, songwriter and producer Jason Zhang Jie joins Universal Music Greater China, a division of Universal Music Group, a world-leading music-based entertainment conglomerate.

Together with Zhang's personal label, Planet Culture, the music company will handle the singer's future recordings, artist management, live performances, international presence, and broader strategic development.

Zhang has built a career spanning over two decades through his vocal power, emotional range and enduring connection with audiences. Since rising to prominence in the mid-2000s, he has released more than 17 albums and EPs and gained a huge fan base across Chinese social media platforms.

Zhang is also widely regarded as one of the premier live performers in Chinese music. This spring, he completed a landmark run of 16 sold-out shows in 24 days at the National Stadium, or Bird's Nest, in Beijing, drawing a total attendance of more than 1 million and setting a record for the most shows ever staged in a single-stop stadium run.

The run formed part of his Future·Live — Leave For 1982 World Tour, the most ambitious tour of his career to date.

"This new, holistic relationship is designed to support the next stage of Zhang's career, and in partnership with his personal label, Planet Culture, we look forward to taking his music to new audiences — in China, and internationally," notes Timothy Xu, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Greater China.

"Universal Music has planted solid roots in the Chinese music industry and understands the original aspirations of Chinese musicians, alongside a well-established global music network. Without a doubt, it is the perfect partner for my next musical journey," says Zhang.

"Rooted in Chinese music, we will meticulously polish authentic works, introducing original Mandarin pop across Asia and the rest of the globe, enabling international audiences to feel the power of integrated Mando-pop."
