Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Tuesday that the Democratic Progressive Party authorities showed "no bottom line" as they are willing to sacrifice the overall interests of the Chinese nation for their own political gain.

She was responding to the Taiwan authorities' recent endorsement of Japan and the Philippines launching maritime delimitation negotiations regarding waters located east of China's Taiwan island.

On Sunday, Taiwan's foreign affairs authorities issued a statement endorsing the negotiation by Japan and the Philippines, and questioned the Chinese mainland's sovereign rights over the relevant waters.

"Both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China, and safeguarding national territory and maritime rights and interests is the shared responsibility of all Chinese people on both sides of the strait," Mao said at a daily news conference in Beijing on Tuesday.

"The DPP authorities, in pursuit of their own political interests, are willing to sacrifice the overall interests of the Chinese nation, betraying their heritage and showing utterly no bottom line," she said.
