China issues response to Canadian warship reports

China respects the navigation rights enjoyed by all countries under international law, but firmly opposes any country undermining China’s sovereignty and security in the name of freedom of navigation, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Friday.
Mao made the remarks at a regular news briefing in response to reports that a Canadian warship had transited the Taiwan Strait.
