Legal seminar underscores rule of law in Greater Bay Area integration
The 14th Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao Legal Seminar was held in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Thursday, with a focus on strengthening talent cultivation and promoting economic development.
The event was jointly organized by the China Law Society, the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and the Secretary for Administration and Justice of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government.
Wang Hongxiang, an official of the China Law Society, emphasized the important role of the rule of law in social and economic development, saying it is essential to promote the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao.
He noted that as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area deepens integration, the need to strengthen the rule of law becomes increasingly urgent. A sound legal framework, he added, helps inject momentum into the high-quality development of the region and supports its pursuit of high-level opening-up.
Wang highlighted the seminar as a key platform for legal professionals from the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao to build consensus, strengthen cooperation, and share legal practices.
He said the event has also played an important role in upholding the "one country, two systems" policy, advancing the development of the Greater Bay Area through legal means, and supporting the country's broader efforts to promote high-level opening-up.
