The upcoming film Crossing, centered on the Red Army's Long March (1934-36), is expected to draw more tourists to Guizhou province, where much of it was filmed.
Local authorities have launched a range of promotions ahead of the film's June release, including free admission for visitors who present a movie ticket stub, to encourage trips to the real-life sites of the Red Army's four crossings of the Chishui River in 1935, a series of maneuvers that helped the troops break through Kuomintang encirclement.
