Jinggong Steel International, a subsidiary of Jinggong Steel Building Group, has won a contract for work on the main steel structure above the 120th floor of Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia, marking a further step in the Chinese steel structure company's expansion in the Middle East.

Under the latest contract, Jinggong Steel International will handle the supply and installation of the tower's entire main steel structure. The tower is designed to reach 1,008 meters.

Located in Jeddah, the project is regarded as one of Saudi Arabia's landmark developments under Saudi Vision 2030. The tower is expected to be completed in 2028, according to the company.

Once finished, it is expected to surpass Dubai's 828-meter Burj Khalifa and become the world's first building over 1,000 meters tall, the company said.

Jinggong Steel Building Group has identified overseas expansion as one of its key strategic priorities this year. The company said it will work with project partners to ensure the quality, safety and timely delivery of the Jeddah Tower steel structure work.
