Farmers are filling orchards to pick crisp greengage plums as the harvest season peaks in Yongtai county of Fuzhou, Fujian province.
At processing plants, sprawling drying fields resemble massive chessboards from above. Due to their high acidity, these plums are ideal for deep processing.
Yongtai's established greengage industry yields 75,000 metric tons annually. By expanding into plum wine, candied fruits, and beverage ingredients, the county is rapidly extending its value chain.
