Boutique tourist train highlighting Sichuan's cultural charm makes debut
A newly designed boutique tourist train under the "Panda Express" brand made its debut on Monday in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, before heading to the province's Mianyang city for a trial run.
The "Jinxiu Tianfu" train, jointly developed by China Railway Chengdu Group and Sichuan Tourism Investment Group, highlights Sichuan's cultural charm. It blends giant panda motifs with the Song Dynasty (960-1279) aesthetics and the region's iconic brocade heritage.
Equipped with 18 carriages and 46 guest rooms, the train prioritizes both quality and privacy. Passengers can unwind on Shu-brocade patterned seats, savor authentic Sichuan cuisine and panda-shaped desserts, and participate in intangible cultural heritage activities such as guzheng (Chinese zither) performances and bamboo weaving.
