With the aim of immersing themselves in Chinese culture while steadily advancing China-Arab cultural and people-to-people exchanges, the 2026 "Art Along the Silk Road" delegation of distinguished Arab artists arrived in Xiamen on April 15, beginning the Fujian leg of their study and inspiration tour.
The nine distinguished artists came from six Arab nations — Tunisia, Oman, Algeria, Jordan, Morocco, and Egypt. On their way from the airport to downtown Xiamen, they took in the city's beautiful night views and showed strong interest in learning about Xiamen's historical and cultural landmarks.
The delegation members then made their way to Gulangyu Island, where they wandered through Shuzhuang Garden and immersed themselves in the quintessence of Minnan (southern Fujian) garden design. They also visited the Piano Museum, where the graceful melodies of century-old antique pianos filled the air.
Egyptian artist Mohamed Sabry said that the Xiamen tourism promotion event in Cairo this past January made him excited to visit China. He said he looked forward to sharing the beauty of Xiamen and its artistic spirit with more friends across the Arab world through his paintings.
The delegation members also visited the "Minnan Timewalk" scenic area, where they experienced the rich heritage of Minnan culture through traditional performances and interactive activities.
