Sanyuesan is an ancient festival celebrated on the third day of the third month in the traditional Chinese calendar. On this day in 353 AD, the master calligrapher Wang Xizhi, along with over 40 literary figures, gathered at the Orchid Pavilion in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province.
Wang immortalized this gathering in his renowned work "Preface to the Poems Collected from the Orchid Pavilion".
