The Espace Louis Vuitton Beijing presented an exhibition of four installation works by French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel, marking the 20th anniversary of the Espaces Louis Vuitton and the 10th anniversary of the Fondation Louis Vuitton's Hors-les-murs program.
The Hors-les-murs programme showcased works from the Fondation's Collection at Espaces Louis Vuitton in Tokyo, Munich, Venice, Beijing, Seoul and Osaka, extending its mission to stage international projects and reach a wider global audience.
After experimenting with photography, sulfur, and obsidian, Othoniel turned to glass in 1996, shifting his artistic language from "shadow" to "light". Embracing the material's demands, Othoniel collaborates closely with master glassmakers to capture fragile, fleeting states: moments of upheaval, accidents, ruptures, and unforeseen transformations.
