Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that Iran stands ready to keep seeking a rational and realistic solution through peaceful negotiations, during a phone conversation with Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Araghchi briefed Wang on the latest developments in talks between Iran and the United States, and expressed appreciation for China's consistent efforts to help cool tensions. He added that Tehran hopes Beijing will continue to play a positive role in promoting peace.

Wang noted that the Middle East is at a critical juncture, with a window for peace opening.

He voiced support for preserving the ceasefire and advancing negotiations, saying that this serves the fundamental interests of the Iranian people, and reflects the shared hopes of countries in the region and the broader international community.

He also said Iran's sovereign security and legitimate rights and interests as a coastal state along the Strait of Hormuz should be respected and safeguarded.

At the same time, he said, freedom and security of navigation through the international waterway must be ensured, adding that restoring normal transit through the strait is a shared call of the international community.

China will, as always, support Iran in safeguarding its national sovereignty, security and dignity, he added.
