President Xi Jinping and Vietnamese President To Lam jointly met with Chinese and Vietnamese youth representatives participating in the "Red Study Tour" on Wednesday, encouraging them to carry forward the China-Vietnam friendship.

The "Red Study Tour" is an initiative jointly announced by Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and To Lam, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, during Xi's state visit to Vietnam in April 2025 to carry forward the historical legacy of the traditional friendship between the two countries.

It aims to encourage young people in both countries to follow in the revolutionary footsteps of the older generation of leaders, explore the "red gene" of the China-Vietnam friendship, and contribute youthful energy to the socialist endeavors of both countries and to the construction of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

Speaking to the youth representatives, Xi said that over the past year, young people from both countries had explored the "red gene" of China-Vietnam friendship and experienced the diverse aspects of Chinese modernization, creating many vivid stories of mutual learning and deepening understanding across China.

He emphasized that youths are a vital force in promoting social development and progress, and are successors to the undertakings of the two parties and two countries.

Xi expressed hope that the Chinese and Vietnamese youths will support each other, bringing youthful vitality to the profound friendship of "comrades plus brothers" between China and Vietnam.

He encouraged them to take on responsibilities, using their youthful energy and creativity to inspire a wave of innovation, openness and win-win cooperation.

It is also hoped that the youths from China and Vietnam will have a global vision, striving to be pioneers in building a community with a shared future for humanity and contributing their youthful energy to the cause of human progress, Xi said.

To Lam said that since the launch of the "Red Study Tour" project a year ago, more than 1,000 Vietnamese youths have visited revolutionary sites in China. They followed the footsteps of previous generations of Vietnamese leaders, experiencing the revolutionary traditions and deep friendship between the two countries, he said.

Noting that youths are an important bridge in the relationship between the two parties and two countries, To Lam expressed hope that they will further strengthen their ideals and beliefs, enhance their political capability, acquire knowledge about science and deepen their understanding of Vietnam-China relations, playing an important role in their countries' development and the friendship between the two nations.
