Most of the stalls have bilingual signs in Chinese and Russian, and many store owners can communicate using basic Russian words and phrases. Russian tourists gather in groups to taste and select at their leisure.
"There are all kinds of foods, vegetables, and dried fruits at the market," said a Russian tourist. "The fruits not only taste great but are also much cheaper than in our country, and every time I come, I leave with a full load."
Wang Jian, a vendor who has been selling strawberries at the morning market for ten years, has felt the benefits of the Russian tourist flow in the past two years. "Chinese products have a high cost-performance ratio, much cheaper than in Russia," he said. "My business is much better than before."
