Ningxia students continue 31-year tradition with 54-km trek to honor martyrs

"After walking such a long distance, I felt proud to have made it," said Ma Yihe, a first-year student of this school. "But standing there, thinking about the sacrifices made by the martyrs, I also felt a deep sense of respect and solemnity."
To prepare for the demanding trek, schools began physical training weeks in advance by incorporating endurance exercises into daily routines.
This year coincides with the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March (1934-36). Over three decades, more than 30,000 people have taken part in the annual hike, transforming it from a school initiative into a lasting tribute sustained by collective commitment.
