John Mburu Muiruri from Kenya became the champion of the male group with a time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 16 seconds. Veronicah Njeri Maina, also from Kenya, became the female champion after finishing with 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 14 seconds, a Wuhan Marathon women's record.
Pan Yuanchen, from Shandong province, led the women's half-marathon, and Beijinger Fang Bo took home first place in the men's half-marathon. He lauded the natural scenery throughout the race. "It kept me energized mile after mile," Fang said.
