China Petroleum and Chemical Corp (Sinopec) reached a cumulative liquefied natural gas (LNG) refueling volume of over 17 million metric tons since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, the company said on Friday.

The use of LNG has resulted in a reduction of 15 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions compared to traditional diesel fuel. To date, Sinopec operates 1,150 LNG refueling stations, establishing the largest vehicle-use LNG refueling network in the country.

The promotion and application of LNG heavy trucks have benefited from favorable policies, as the government has included LNG vehicles in priority development projects and accelerated the phase-out of aging diesel-powered freight trucks.

Looking ahead, Sinopec said it will continue to refine its refueling network layout along highways, national roads, and logistics parks. The company aims to accelerate the construction of a national "single network" for gas refueling to provide cleaner energy for economic and social development.
