China and Vietnam said on Monday that the successful convening of the first ministerial meeting of the "3+3" strategic dialogue marks the establishment of a new platform for strategic communication and coordination between the two countries, bringing bilateral cooperation to a new stage and elevating it to a higher level.

The meeting, held in Hanoi, was co-chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong, and Minister of National Defense Dong Jun, together with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang.

The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges of views on the evolving international and regional situation, as well as on safeguarding political security and advancing cooperation in defense and law enforcement, reaching broad consensus.

The two sides agreed that the world has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation, which poses common challenges to the socialist causes of the two countries.

They pledged to strengthen strategic resolve, enhance strategic resilience, give full play to the strengths of their respective systems, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.

They also agreed to strengthen strategic coordination and firmly uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law.

Both sides also agreed that the second ministerial meeting of the "3+3" strategic dialogue will be held in China.

They will make full use of the mechanism's senior officials' routine communication to deepen exchanges among the diplomatic, defense and public security authorities of the two countries.
