China's commitment to women's empowerment highlighted at intl women's day reception
In celebration of International Women's Day, falling on Sunday this year, the All-China Women's Federation hosted a reception in Beijing on Friday, highlighting China's commitment to advancing global women's causes.
State Councilor Shen Yiqin, who also serves as president of the federation, delivered a speech at the reception, emphasizing that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), Chinese women will embrace their roles and contribute their wisdom and strength to the nation's development. Shen noted that China is eager to deepen exchanges and cooperation globally to advance women's causes.
The reception was attended by about 1,000 women from various sectors in China, as well as female representatives from international organizations and foreign embassies.
Cinthya Escobar, the ambassadress of Nicaragua in China, said that China has made significant progress in women's empowerment and cooperation. The emphasis China places on the role of women nationwide is impressive. The Chinese government has implemented numerous strategies to integrate women and children into all its programs, she added.
Berhan Tekle from the Ethiopian embassy in China commented on the convenience for women in China, saying, "China is probably the most convenient, comfortable, and considerate place for me."
In addition to international guests, representatives from the National March 8 Red-Banner collective groups were also present at the reception.
Pan Tingting, a police officer from the Beijing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, highlighted her team's six-year record of zero errors while inspecting over 2 million entries and exits. "We will remain committed to serving with loyalty and integrity, ensuring that women's contributions shine brightly at the nation's gateway," she said.
Zhang Yujing, deputy manager of Xiamen Airlines' cabin service department, expressed her honor in attending the reception. "Our job's top priority is ensuring passenger safety, and we have maintained an excellent safety record. As my company expands intercontinental routes, we are not only representing China's aviation industry and Chinese women but also building a friendship bridge in the sky with the world," she said.
