Guangzhou railway hub tops 10 million passengers since start of holiday travel rush
The Guangzhou railway station hub in the Guangdong provincial capital has maintained a high level of passenger flow since the start of this year's Spring Festival travel rush, according to China Railway Guangzhou Group.
As of Sunday, the total number of passengers arriving and departing from the Guangzhou station hub exceeded 10 million since the travel rush began on Feb 2, according to the railway operator.
The railway station hub includes Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou East Railway Station, and Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station.
To meet the increased travel demand after the holiday, the railway authorities have optimized the train schedules and expanded capacity by adding nighttime high-speed trains and temporary trains.
On Monday alone, nearly six hundred trains were operated from the railway hub, including 23 additional temporary trains to meet the travel needs of passengers.
