China and the United States have maintained continuous communication at various levels through their economic and trade consultation mechanism, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

The ministry's spokeswoman, He Yongqian, made the remarks at a news conference in response to a question about reports that China and the US are set to hold their sixth round of trade talks in the near future.

China is willing to work with the US to uphold the consensus reached by the two heads of state at their 2025 meeting in Busan, South Korea, and during their Feb 4 phone talks, He said.

Through equal-footed consultations, the two sides can properly manage differences and expand practical cooperation, so as to promote the healthy, stable and sustainable development of China-US economic and trade relations, she added.
