Pakistan to receive WHO childhood cancer medicines

Four Pakistani hospitals are finalizing preparations to receive free childhood cancer medicines from the World Health Organization (WHO) before the end of 2026. The initiative is part of the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines, which aims to improve treatment access for young patients.

Pakistan sees over 8,000 new childhood cancer cases each year, making timely and quality treatment crucial. The WHO-supported program will provide these medicines to ensure children receive the care they need, reducing treatment gaps in the country.

According to the press release, seven additional centres are expected to be ready to receive supplies in 2027. The program reflects Pakistan’s commitment to child health and the WHO’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable populations worldwide.
