WASHINGTON -- A male teenager was injured in a shooting near Union Station, the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. said Friday.

"Alert: Shooting investigation in the Unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, NE. The scene is secure," the department said on X, adding that the incident did not occur at Union Station.

The department said that the victim "was transported conscious and breathing to a local hospital," noting that the shooting occurred near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and North Capitol Street.

Police have not released any information on possible suspects.
