"Arm wrestling is a recognized international sport, especially popular in Europe and America, and is distinct from casual arm wrestling due to its rigorous training and competition standards," said Jiang Liya, director of the Chongqing Arm Wrestling Association.
Jiang said the 2025 competition, the 18th edition, set new records for both the number of competitors and prize money, making it a standout event in the southwestern municipality.
With a prize pool of 100,000 yuan ($14,292.8), the championship attracted top-tier athletes, further enhancing the event's prestige and competitive atmosphere.
