Beijing clears all flood-damaged county-level or higher roads
All 29 county-level and higher roads in Beijing damaged by the recent torrential rains and flooding have been fully cleared, according to the Beijing Commission of Transport.
The final road to reopen was Xihuo Road in Miyun district, the most severely affected area. The route was restored at 1:40 pm on Thursday following intensive emergency repairs, marking the complete clearance of all major flood-damaged roads in the capital.
Xihuo Road is a key transport artery, connecting several towns in Miyun to the outside world. During the downpours, the roadbed, bridges, and roadside infrastructure were almost entirely swept away, bringing transport in the area to a standstill.
Miyun district moved quickly to deploy rescue teams and launch full-scale emergency operations.
