New Three Gorges, a documentary filmed over three decades, will debut nationwide in the People's Cinema Chain on June 26.
Helmed by Yang Shuhua, winner of the prestigious Huabiao Film Award for the 2011 documentary China Three Gorges, the film uses three-dimensional cinematic technology to capture the transformations of the Three Gorges reservoir area and the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River from the completion of the Three Gorges project.
Along with the Chinese crew, the documentary invited five international filmmakers to serve as consultants, including American visual effects specialist Chuck Comisky and Academy Award-winning director Keith Merrill.
In addition, the documentary obtained support from 11 Chinese academicians and features interviews with more than 50 experts and 100 individuals who share their firsthand experiences of the changes brought by the Three Gorges project.
