Randy Huntington, Chinese 100m sprinter Su Bingtian's American coach, talked about Su's last two races at the Tokyo Olympics and believed the sprinter could have finished on the podium. Huntington said Su gave 100 percent in the semifinal and it is hard to do it in the final, and also mentioned the distraction from the false start of one of the finalists. The coach blamed himself for not preparing Su well enough for two races with that kind of tension taking place within hours of each other.
Su, Asia's fastest man, finished at 9.83s in the semifinal race to shatter his own Asian record and became the first Chinese finalist for the Olympic 100m. He finished sixth with 9.98s.
