BEIJING -- Chinese football will not mainly depend on naturalized players, Chinese Football Association (CFA) president Chen Xuyuan said in a livestream interview on Friday.
The head of China's football governing body said that the naturalisation of football players would not be a long-term strategy for Chinese football.
"Naturalized players who meet the related requirements will still be welcome, but it won't be the mainstream in Chinese football's development," Chen said.
Four naturalized players have been called up for the Chinese national team's two-week training camp starting on Sunday in Shanghai, with the CFA announcing a 28-man squad last Friday.
