"Over 20 years ago, at the darkest and most helpless time in my life, it was the People's Liberation Army and public security fire officers and soldiers who gave me hope," she said. "I appreciate and adore them very much. I think they are real heroes who put their lives at risk to save others in danger."

"I think they are great. So I hoped I could join them and become a person like them through my efforts."

Her efforts didn't let her down. She passed the national civil servant exam, became a police officer in 2014 and joined the Communist Party of China in 2019.

Serving the people as a police officer, Jiang said she feels fulfilled and meaningful.
