Zhu Ting eyes 'gold or silver' at Tokyo Games
BEIJING - Chinese star spiker Zhu Ting said in a recent interview that her team would strive to win a gold or silver at next year's Tokyo Olympic Games.
"Our aim is to win the gold or silver. Of course it will be very difficult, because our opponents are very strong. All we can do is to train hard and get better prepared so that we can have good performance when the competition begins," the Chinese captain said in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV).
"When we get stronger, we can overcome more difficulties. Volleyball is a team sport, we have to rely on the strength of the whole team," she added.
Zhu, 25, has been regarded as one of the best side hitters in the world. She led China to a gold medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016, as well as defending their title at the women's volleyball World Cup in Japan in 2019.
