PLA participation
The soldiers of the People's Liberation Army's Hong Kong Garrison also participated.
Soldiers, dressed in civilian clothes, joined a group of local residents on Saturday afternoon in clearing barricades set up outside Kowloon East Barracks, near Hong Kong Baptist University.
Winning the applause of the people around, the soldiers greatly sped up the chore and returned to their barracks after the road was cleared of debris and open to traffic.
That was not the first time PLA Hong Kong Garrison soldiers volunteered to help out. Last year, soldiers also helped remove fallen trees on the trails of country parks in the aftermath of a massive typhoon in October.
