So far, 1,769 of the toilets have passed verification, so that citizens and tourists from home and abroad can find the nearest toilets via the two map applications on their mobile phones.
"Next, we will actively communicate with Gaode and Baidu, striving to complete registration of all the toilets as soon as possible," said the official.
"It is really good news for me," said 69-year-old retiree Sun Lin. "I'm a cycling enthusiast and often ride around the city."
"Sometimes I may ride to places that I'm unfamiliar with. Looking for public toilets has always been a troublesome problem," he said. "Now I will never need to worry about it."
