China level up ice sports promotion
HARBIN -- The General Sport Administration of China launched a series of projects to level up the ice sports promotion nationally at Harbin, capital city of Heilongjiang Province, the main venue for the program, on Saturday.
As the hosts of the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, China are seizing the opportunity to raise the interest of ice sports. On September 5, 2018, the general administration announced the goal of 2022 - "to Bring 300 Million People into Ice Sport".
"Joy of Ice", one of the projects launched in Heilongjiang Province, a region rich of snow and ice, is so much welcomed that attracted over 44 million people past years.
Heilongjiang has been the role leader of these activities for the past three seasons and millions of fans have benefited from the governmental support of mass ice sports programs.
