China's Wang Qiang wins women's tennis singles title at Asiad
PALEMBANG, Indonesia - Wang Qiang won the gold medal of women's singles title in the tennis tournament of the 18th Asiad Games after beating her Chinese compatriot Zhang Shuai on Friday.
The No. 2 seed enjoyed a rather easy victory, beating Zhang Shuai, the top-seeded player at the Asiad, 6-3, 6-2.
"It's really tough to play here because the weather is so hot. I think I am quite prepared for this tournament. This match is tougher than the last one, but it's good for me because under that circumstance I played good," Wang Qiang told a press conference after the victory ceremony.
"This is very difficult since I have to play against my good friend here. Last year we played together in Chinese tournament. It was really tough to vie against her. She is a good player," added Wang Qiang.
