Feel the Future: Buenos Aires unveils 2018 Youth Olympics slogan
BUENOS AIRES - The slogan for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires - Feel the Future - seeks to inspire the creation of a better world through sport, organizers said on Monday.
The slogan was revealed along with a 52-word manifesto, coinciding with the start of the six-month countdown to the Games' opening ceremony.
Some 3,998 athletes from 206 countries and regions will converge in the Argentine capital for the October 6-18 event.
In a statement, the Buenos Aires 2018 organizing committee said key themes of the Youth Olympics would be "equality, passion and coexistence."
"The young athletes competing at Buenos Aires 2018 will be ambassadors of the Olympic values of respect, friendship and excellence. [They] will be a source of inspiration for youth around the world," organizing committee president Gerardo Werthein said.
According to officials, the Games will include dozens of competitions featuring teams with mixed genders and nationalities.
