During the Wei and Jin dynasties (220-420), trousers with a crotch were developed and became widely used.
Except the Tang Dynasty (618-907), when women often paired trousers with leather boots, the rules for women's clothes were stricter in other dynasties. For them, trousers were often a hidden part of the whole ensemble.
