China Daily's coverage tops English media
Chinese enterprises grabbed more global headlines in 2017 as English-language media in China increased its coverage of companies, according to a ranking on the country’s international communication influence published in Beijing on Wednesday.
According to the report, China Daily jumped to 4th spot in 2017 from 15th in 2016, the highest among English-language media in the country, with its total coverage of companies surging three times.
The report was issued by "China international communication research team" of the National Centre for Communication Innovation Studies, Communication University of China authorized by the Ministry of Education. The team publishes a series of reports on the international communication power of Chinese cities and enterprises in the first month every year.
Among the country’s enterprises, tech giant Huawei Investment & Holding Co Ltd surpassed Lenovo Group Ltd and took the top spot in attracting media coverage from Google News, Facebook, YouTube last year.
